Just a quick update: After our committee meeting, we've decided to hold a smaller Gala event later this year. We are still assessing the damage caused by the flood to our equipment but know that a large proportion of it will have to be replaced. Following consultation with Lottery Officials, the drawing of the Gala Raffle has been deferred until the next Gala event, so please keep your tickets if you're already bought some. In the meantime we will continue to sell Raffle Tickets to help raise funds for forthcoming events. We will try and keep everyone informed via posters and our website with regular news updates. We currently have a selection of pictures of the floods but if anyone has photos or stories please contact us and we'll put a selection on the website. On a drier, brighter note, Gala Sports' Night was very successful and enjoyed by all. There were nearly 90 runners in the Chase, a grueling hill run, and the results are on the website. Due to the flooding of the park, the 2007 Oughtibridge Gala has been postponed. 
The Gala Committee is having an emergency meeting tonight and is trying to contact everyone concerned. We hope to have a smaller event later in the summer but no detailed information is available yet.
Although the flooding in the park has receded, Bradfield Parish Council have closed the park due to health and safety - it is contaminated with raw sewage and the buildings are unsafe because of the flood damage. Pictures from the height of the flooding can be found here

Mayfest was fun and pretty well attended, depite the heavy showers; thank goodness for the three marquees that kept the Band, catering and our Gala stall dry! Oughtibridge Brass Band played some excellent, rousing tunes that helped beat the wet weather.
The 2007 Gala Quiz "How well do you know Sheffield?" was well received, along with our photographic puzzles of unusual spots of Oughtibridge. There's still plenty of time to buy quizzes and the popular raffle tickets before or on Gala Day.
